WHAT WE DO

ASDI facilitates for people facing the worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen, as well as Iraq, to gain access to basic human needs, including access to food, water and shelter to allow them the opportunity of a better life.

AREAS OF FOCUS

YEMEN

Unfortunately, Yemen has been facing one of the worst humanitarian crisis recorded, because of the widespread disease, hunger, and continuous attacks on civilians. The war has caused 23.4 million people to need assistance, 13 million of which are children. The people of Yemen are continuously suffering and struggling to stay alive as resources are scarce due to the ongoing war which had wiped out around 377,000 people by 2021. Additionally, more than 4 million people have been displaced and various outbreaks such as cholera and other diseases have spread, alongside other continuing issues of medicine shortages and the threat of famine.

ASDI believes every human has the right to safety, food, water, and shelter. As such, we have been working closely with our team based in Yemen to provide and assist in meeting the needs of those suffering in Yemen. By the grace of Allah(swt), for eight years now, we have provided the people in Yemen various resources such as food, water, shelter, as well as any other financial needs. With the ongoing help and support of Allah(swt) and the community, we believe we can create a bigger impact and change more lives for the better.

IRAQ

Similar to the case of Yemen, Iraq has also been the victim of various wars and political issues over the past 50 years. This has caused various social, economic and medical issues for the Iraqi people. Did you know that around 5% of the world’s orphans are found in Iraq?

Additionally, about 4.5 million children come from families who are live below the poverty line. This can be attributed to the fact that 25% of the Iraqi population live in poverty as unemployment sores at 14%. This means that many families, and children in particular, are in need of assistance to meet their day-to-day needs of food, water, shelter, and medical attention.

ASDI has been working closely with another team in Iraq to try to assist the needs of the Iraqi people by facilitating the flow of donations to people in need. By the grace of Allah(swt), ASDI has been able to feed, shelter, and medical attention to many Iraqis over the years. We hope and continue to work towards growing the resources and help that is targeted towards those most in need. With the continuous blessings of Allah(swt) and the support of our community we aim to achieve bigger milestones in our outreach to some of the most disadvantaged people in today’s world.

FUTURE PLANS

By the Grace of Allah(swt), ASDI aims to expand its outreach into other countries also facing difficulties, including Syria and Lebanon.

We aim to provide similar resources and aid to the Syrian and Lebanese people who are also going through harsh social and economic conditions.

We believe in an innate kinship in all humans, as such we believe in continuously growing our reach to try to assist people of various backgrounds and cultures in gaining access to some of their fundamental needs to allow for a more satisfying and dignified life.
