Al-Zaini Supporting and Development Inc ASDI is a charitable organisation was officially established in February 2021 after issuing its own Australian business number (ABN 27225767202) by the Australian Security and Investment Committee ASIC, but it has been working among the Iraqi and Islamic community in Melbourne since 2015 by collecting donations and aid then sending them to those who deserve it in Yemen, Iraq, and the rest of the Islamic countries. The organisation consists of volunteer members who have come together, with a shared vision for a better future for themselves and their community. As an organisation we aim to spread the values of cooperation, assistance and love within the community and society as a whole.
As well as the Foundation has held cultural and intellectual seminars and prepared religious and social celebrations among the Iraqi community since 2012. Dr. Mehdi Al-Zaini, in cooperation with the active volunteers from the Iraqi community, works to establish a continuous and growing cultural charitable project. We believe this can be achieved by drawing awareness to the situation of the disadvantaged in the world, with a special focus on those suffering in Muslim majority nations. Such efforts are carried out under the ‘assistance’ segment of the organisation that has been gathering donations since 2012 for various disadvantaged communities worldwide. Alongside financial assistance, our organisation also focuses on the provision of shelter, water, food, education, work-opportunities as well as urgent medical attention to those in need. We believe being of service to those in need is the core of our organisation’s focus.
In terms of the ‘Developing’ segment of the organisation, we aim to bring to life the various communal events on our religious, social, and cultural calenda including events celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad(saw), commemoration of Ashura, as well as conducting a ‘Special Achievers’ night. We hope to conduct more events that stimulate different religious, social and academic discussions that assist in flourishing the potential of each individual and of our community as a whole.
